Yesterday I arrived in Madrid!
I was a little nervous about traveling by myself with all my luggage, especially from the airport to my host mom's house. But I said a little prayer on the plane, and thankfully everything went smoothly after that. Had the sweetest old man cab driver that didn't try to rip me off and actually helped carry my bags to the door :)
So far I'm loving Madrid. My host mom is so adorable!! Our house is in a very NYC style neighborhood lined with trees and restaurants. Perfect for tapas - Kelly Fromm get here already!! Also found out yesterday that there are going to be 5 girls total living here this semester. Kelly and I from USD, a girl from Mexico, a girl from Austrialia, ........and one more that I forgot. For now I'm the only one here though so I've been getting to know my host mom well, plus really testing out my Spanish as she speaks no English!
Yesterday I went to a cafe for a bit and finally got caught up with my travel journal.
And then my host mom (Mama Luisa) took me out around town, showed me the school (which is beautiful!) some of her favorite spots, and out for traditional Spanish tapas. Her one advice to me about Spanish boys... "If they're not good looking, they're nothing" hah nice.
Overall off to a great start here in Madrid! Looking forward to the semester
